Flights
We recommend booking a flight that arrives at the Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon, Portugal. The better deals are often found in advance so we encourage you to book as soon as possible.
Kindly share both your arrival and departure flight information in your participants form, and notify us immediately of any delays once on route. -
Start
Our tour will begin at 2pm local time on the start date at the Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS). Please plan to arrive by 2pm or earlier that day, in order to be picked up at the airport along with the rest of the group.
End
Our tour will will end back at the Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) where the journey began. We will arrive in the afternoon on the last day of the tour, so participants can book a flight out anytime that day after 3pm local time or we can drop you off at a nearby location.

If you're a U.S. citizen, you do not need a visa to visit Portugal for up to 90 days. That means you're all set for our tour!
However, starting sometime in 2026, travelers from the U.S. will need to complete a quick online form called ETIAS before entering Portugal. It’s not a visa, just a travel authorization (kind of like the ESTA for visiting the U.S.), and it will cost about €7. This new rule hasn’t started yet, so it won’t affect this year’s trip.
If you're not a U.S. citizen, be sure to check the Portugal-Visas website to see if you need a visa: https://vistos.mne.gov.pt/en/

Health insurance coverage is required on all of our trips. You can work with your current insurance provider to get extended coverage, however, it may be more affordable to work with a company that specializes in travel health insurance. For example, Ecovillage Tour staff use World Nomads. Click the “Get a Quote” button to fill out a simple form and easily purchase the insurance online. Be sure to check if your insurance covers trip interruptions, baggage loss, etc.

Though we cover all your meals and activities during the trip, you'll want some money on hand for souvenirs, extra drinks, and incidentals. We recommend using a credit card with no foreign transaction fees for most purchases—just be sure to choose to pay in euros (not dollars) when asked. If you need cash, use your debit card at a bank ATM in Portugal for the best exchange rate. Avoid airport or tourist-area exchange kiosks, which often have poor rates and high fees. Some travelers like to order a small amount of euros from their bank before the trip for peace of mind. And don’t forget to notify your bank about your travel plans!

For a short trip like this, you may not need a SIM card at all—most phone plans let you make international calls and texts over Wi-Fi, which is available at our accommodations and many public places. If you do want mobile data on the go, an eSIM is the easiest option (if your phone supports it). Jetpac and Holafly both offer affordable plans you can activate before you leave. If you prefer a physical SIM, the Orange Holiday Europe SIM is a reliable choice and available at Portugal airports or Orange stores. Just make sure your phone is unlocked!
