FAQ

  • We encourage you to book your flight as soon as possible, as the better deals are often found in advance. We recommend flying in and out of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS).

Our tour will begin at the DPS Airport. Participants are asked to plan their arrival at the airport to be before 10am local time on the tour start date for pick up.

Our tour will conclude back at the DPS Airport by 7pm on the last day of the tour. Dinner and lodging is not included on the last day of the tour. Kindly book your flights for that afternoon or stay on in Bali if you choose.

  • If you’d like to arrive early or stay longer in Bali before or after our tour, there are many wonderful accommodation options available depending on your budget, location preference, and the kind of experience you’re seeking.

For an immersive and peaceful stay close to nature, we recommend staying in the Ubud or Sidemen areas — both offer easy access to retreat centers, rice fields, yoga studios, and healthy food options. Ubud is more lively and walkable, while Sidemen is more quiet, lush, and ideal for rest and integration.

If you prefer being closer to the ocean, Sanur is a lovely laid-back beach town in South Bali with calm waters, gentle beaches, and a relaxed feel. Bali also has many other beach areas depending on what you’re looking for — from quieter spots perfect for unwinding to busier areas full of cafés, shops, and nightlife.

You’ll find a full range of guesthouses, homestays, eco-lodges, and boutique hotels. We recommend browsing and reserving early, as accommodations in Bali can fill up quickly, especially during retreat seasons.

  • Our tour will end at Alaya Ecolodge. You may contact them directly to inquire whether you can extend your stay at the same location where the group will be. Availability will depend on their schedule and retreat bookings.

For additional booking at Alaya Ecolodge please whatsapp to +62 81339047912 or send them an email at alayaecolodge@gmail.com.

  • You can easily get around Bali using Grab, a popular ride-hailing app that works well for short trips, airport transfers, and even food delivery, making transportation simple, affordable, and reliable.

Alternatively, if you prefer to hire a driver, we can recommend the following drivers based in Ubud:

    Bali Tour Service: +62-817-929-3237 (Whatsapp)

    Gunjus: +62-857-7564-8133 (Whatsapp)

    Moon: +62-858-9915-7421 (Whatsapp)

  • Yes, you will need a visa for this trip.

Passport: Ensure it’s valid until at least September, 2026.

Visa: A visa is required to visit Indonesia from abroad. For full details on the visa process, check out this document

  • Consult with your health care provider and/or the CDC regarding which vaccines will be appropriate for you.

Indonesia generally does not require proof of vaccination for most travelers, except in the case of yellow fever. If you are arriving from (or have recently visited) a region where yellow fever is present, you must provide a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.

Beyond that, while not required, certain vaccinations are strongly recommended for your personal health and safety.

  • Health insurance coverage is required on all of our trips.  You can work with your current insurance provider to get extended coverage, however, it may be more affordable to work with a company that specializes in travel health insurance. For example, Ecovillage Tour staff use World Nomads. Click the “Get a Quote” button to fill out a simple form and easily purchase the insurance online. Be sure to check if your insurance covers trip interruptions, baggage loss, etc.

  • Currency: Indonesian Rupiahs (IDR) are available at ATMS. The exchange rate is currently ~IDR 16.69 per US$1.

Credit Cards: Many locations accept credit and debit cards, but please notify your bank about your travel plans to India to avoid any holds on your accounts, which can be challenging to resolve from abroad.

Personal Money: During the program, you’ll only need to spend money for extras like classes, massages, treats, or gifts. However, we recommend bringing at least USD $200 per person (ideally in $20 bills with some smaller denominations), especially if you’re arriving early or planning to stay and travel afterward.

  • Cell Phones/Internet: All of the places we are staying offer free WiFi. You can also purchase a SIM card at the airport which will work everywhere in Bali.

WhatsApp: Please install WhatsApp if you haven’t already—it’s essential for international communication. Here’s an invite to join a WhatsApp group to connect before, during, and after the program.

Emergencies: In case of an emergency while in Bali, contact Pak Ketut Sarka at +62-813-3852-6456 or Pak Ketut Sudarta at +62-813-3713-8040 (both whatsapp numbers).
